Tilted to the right?

Several weeks ago you had a number of your dedicated and thoughtful readers write in letters protesting the ramblings of Randy Ridgel.

Granted Mr. Ridgel is a right-wing extremist; but darn it; he is our right-wing extremist.

It could be that the editorial staff might be a bit remiss in publishing Mr.Ridgel”s letters on the same page with the cartoonist Bruce Tinsley”s Mallard Fillmore since it seems to tilt the paper a little too much to the right.

However, in Mr. Ridgel”s defense I must say that anyone who has read his history articles has to admit that he has an artful way of writing about the past. Perhaps it is his association with the Lake County Historical Society that makes him such a wonderful chronicler of historic events or maybe he is just so darned much older than the rest of us and is merely recalling his earlier days.

All of this leads us to Mr. Ridgel”s letter in the July 13 edition of the Record-Bee.

I fear that he may have gone a bit too far. If I am not mistaken the last paragraph of his letter constitutes a terrorist threat to the city of Lakeport.

Perhaps he was only making a point, but these days we just can”t be too careful.
