Sometimes this club is not as well informed as they should be. For example … sagebrush.

This noxious weed did not cover the plains. It grew in the foothills. The grasslands did not give it the chance to grow. That all changed when the grasslands were ?sandpapered” ie the grass was eaten down to the roots. This generally happened in the Great Depression. Ranchers and farmers could not sell their stock and could not feed it so opened the corral doors and turned them loose. The result was overgrazing of the grass lands.

Last week a range fire in Eastern Idaho burned 100,000 acres, about 155 square miles. The fire was so intense that it burned the sage to the ground.

What an opportunity to replant the area in grass. If the Sierra Club is true to its traditions it will demand that the area be replanted in sage. It has done this before. I hope people with more experience will made the decision to plant grass.
