KELSEYVILLE — A three-session multi-directional speed and agility camp will be held Aug. 1, Aug. 8 and Aug. 15 at Kelseyville Park on State Street in downtown Kelseyville, just off Main Street. Camp hours are 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. each of the three Sundays.
Boys and girls ages 8-18 are encouraged to attend. The focus of the camp is to break down the skills of multi-directional speed and movement to assist in athletic performance. Linear, lateral and angular deceleration techniques will be taught, allowing you to be first to the ball while keeping you injury free. Your ability to decelerate will enhance your ability to accelerate. Your ability to move in all directions is enhanced through sport specific movements such as the shuffle, crossover, hip turn, directional step, and the plyo-step.
Pre-registration begins at 3:30 p.m. all three days of the camp.
Brad Smith, physical therapist and owner of Innovative Physical Therapy and Training (IPT), leads the camp. Smith is also a Level 1 Young Fitness Specialist certified through the International Youth Conditioning Association (IYCA).
Early registration is recommended and information can be obtained from IPT at 5289 State St., Kelseyville, or by calling Smith at 279-0881 or 533-3170.
