LAKEPORT — Competition was fierce at Delbert”s Memorial Raceway in Lakeport on Sunday. According to Danielle Inglin, raceway spokesperson, with only four races left in the seasons, drivers are starting to feel the pressure.
“The points are close and there is no margin for error at this stage of the game,” Inglin said. “It was sprint car racing at its most competitive Sunday. The Outlaw Karts were full of side-by-side, wheel-to-wheel racing. It was another hot day; the track was in good condition, which enabled the drivers to show off their skills and make some spectacular passes.”
Top qualifiers in Sunday”s race were as follow: Carlee Austin, beginner box; Michael Kofoid, boxstock; Michael Kofoid, 125cc-250cc; Kayla Mincey, 500cc-open.
Trophy dash winners were Shay Clark, beginner box; Ren Eberhart, boxstock; Riley Matson, 125cc-250cc; Missy Polizzi, 500cc-open.
Main event results were reported as follows: beginner box ? Kelsey Lemoine, first, Carlee Austin, second and third place went to Shay Clark. Boxstock main event went to Colby Johnson followed by Ren Everhart in second and Ryan Williams in third place. In the 125cc-250cc division it was Missy Polizzi at the checkered flag followed by Cameron Austin and Michael Kofoid, respectively. Chance Hawkins took the main event win in the 500cc-open division with Marty Hawkins in second and Kasey Horat in third.
