Quilt and Textile Exhibition seeks entries
LOWER LAKE — The Lower Lake Historic School Preservation Committee will host its 17th annual Quilt and Textile Exhibition from Aug. 7 through 28 in the Weaver Auditorium.
The public is invited to bring quilts and fiber art work for display. Items can be brought to the museum through July during regular business hours, 11 a.m. until 4 p.m., Wednesday through Saturday.
Featured artists will include the Clear Lake Quilt Guild, renowned weaver Sheila O”Hara and her students and members of the Sheep Thrills Spinning and Weaving Guild.
An artists” reception will be held from noon to 2 p.m. Aug. 14. Viewers are invited to meet the fiber artists and view demonstrations of weaving and spinning. Light refreshments will be served. For more information, call the museum at 995-3565.
Charlotte Thistle at Molly Brennan”s Pub
LAKEPORT — Recording artist and singer Charlotte Thistle”s “Wild Wind Homecoming Tour”brings her on Aug. 7 to Molly Brennan”s Pub, 175 N. Main St. in Lakeport. Beginning in Oregon and continuing through California, Arizona, Texas and Tennessee, the tour will then carry on north to Thistle”s home town of London, Ontario, where she expects to play to a full house of old friends she hasn”t seen in 20 years. After revisiting her roots, the tour route turns around to head west again through Kansas, Colorado and Montana.
Nutcracker auditions will be held on Aug. 21
MIDDLETOWN — The Middletown Dance Alliance will be holding auditions for its fourth annual Nutcracker, noon to 4 p.m. Aug. 21 at the studio, 21055 Bush St. in Middletown. Auditions are open to all of Lake County dance school students and performers ages 6 to adult. The director will speak to each performer and request them to act or dance out (in groups) small parts for the audition.
The production will be held in December.
This production is a full-length Nutcracker, with stage settings, lights, props and dramatic costumes. It”s a fun, but professional, family-oriented atmosphere and a way to set family traditions. ?Art in the Barn” at Old Time Bluegrass Festival
LOWER LAKE — Main Street Gallery Committee Chair, Richard Seisser, has announced that the gallery and the Anderson Marsh Bluegrass Festival Committee have joined forces to organize and present “Art in the Barn” at this year”s festival, on Sept. 11 at Anderson Marsh in Lower Lake.
“Art in the Barn” is open to all Lake County artists in all media and is a juried show. It is anticipated that there will be hanging space for 15 artists and applications are available at the Main Street Gallery and online at bluegrass@andersonmarsh.org.
Completed applications should be returned to Richard Seisser, Main Street Gallery, 325 N. Main St., Lakeport, CA 95451, by Aug. 15. No entry fee is required for this opportunity. Artists” work can be for display only, or for sale. If an artist”s work is selected for show and is for sale, there is a 10-percent sales commission as a fundraiser for the festival.
Set up time is noon to 6 p.m. Sept. 10 and should be completed by 9 a.m. Sept. 11. Take down is scheduled at festival close, 7 p.m., and art work should not be removed until after the 7 p.m. closing time. Overnight security will be provided for Sept. 10.
Juried art show to hang at Main Street Gallery
LAKEPORT — “Lake County Living,” a juried art show, will hang during the month of September in the Linda Carpenter Gallery in the Lake County Arts Council”s Main Street Gallery. The jury process is open to all two-dimensional media with a maximum image size of 16 by 20 inches or 320 square inches. ?Falling Leaves Quilt Show” invites entries
LAKE COUNTY ? The Ladies of the Lake Quilt Guild invites all Lake and Mendocino County quilters to enter quilts in its ninth annual “Falling Leaves Quilt Show.” The LLQG is inviting entries now to give quilters time to prepare for the show. The deadline to submit entry forms is Aug. 7 and quilts must be ready for display Sept. 30.

Quilters may choose to have their quilts judged for a small fee, or to enter quilts for free without judging. The judge will award ribbons in several areas
Show organizers expect to display more than 200 quilts in this show, which will be held Oct. 2 and 3 at the Lake County Fairgrounds. Among the other attractions will be the works of featured quilter Sandy Turner, vendors, prize drawings, a silent auction and the Country Store boutique.
