LOWER LAKE — A single-vehicle rollover on Morgan Valley Road late Wednesday evening resulted in major injuries to the driver. Marcheta Heairet, 18, of Hidden Valley Lake was transported to UC Davis Medical Center via REACH air ambulance for injuries sustained in the crash.
Heairet”s passengers, including two children and one adult were transported via Lake County Fire Protection District medical units to St. Helena Hospital, Clearlake for treatment of minor injuries.
According to California Highway Patrol Officer Joseph Wind, all occupants were wearing their seatbelts and alcohol and/or drugs do not appear to be contributing factors.
Wind said around 10:35 p.m. Heairet was driving a 1998 Ford Taurus westbound on Morgan Valley Road in Lower Lake east of Oak Haven Road. She was apparently driving too fast and failed to maintain control of the vehicle through a right hand corner in the road. The vehicle drifted across the double yellow lines and Wind said it appears Heairet overcorrected and went back in the direction of origin. The vehicle then went off the north side of the roadway where it overturned as it struck a mailbox.
The incident remains under the investigation of Officer K. Reynolds.
