What about manatees in Clear Lake?

Here is how to save our lake from the increasing water plant population. Manatees are introduced to the lake. There have been other animals imported to the lake in the past so this will be a more successful endeavor. There are many kinds of manatees around the world. We even have our own native variety in the Florida Everglades. There are some manatees that live in fresh water and that only eat aquatic vegetation.

Manatees require a warm lake, much like ours. These are very gentle giants that would never be aggressive to lake visitors. The manatee would not compete in any way with any of the lakes inhabitants. As the manatee population increases and people figure out where to look for them, people from far and wide would want to come and see them.

Yeah … The only way this could work, though, is all boats would be limited to 15 mph. Manatees are big and slow and careless speeders would wound or kill them. Hmmmm … can”t have manatees. We”re stuck with maniacs.
