GEYSERS — CALFire units were dispatched to an area within the Geysers Thursday afternoon for a vegetation fire. Units remained on scene into the late evening hours.

According to CALfire Fire Captain Joe Petersen, units were requested at approximately 1:17 p.m. with the last handcrew cleared from the scene at 11:10 p.m. He said that the fire was considered contained within two to three hours. An engine unit returned briefly on Friday.

Captain Petersen said about five acres burned.

CALfire responded with three tankers, a helicopter, six engines and four handcrews. Two additional engines were sent by Geyserville and South Lake Fire Protection District responded with a water tender, utility vehicle and an engine.

Cause of the fire remains under investigation.
