What about the budget?

Our representative to the State Assembly visited Lake County on Monday. As stated by the Record-Bee, he was here “to take a first-hand look at the growing problem of algae blooms on Clear Lake.” This gentleman was elected as our State Senator in 1998 and having termed his limits as state senator, became our state assemblyman in 2008. Our problems with algae blooms in the lake have been present and growing for many years. I would have hoped that someone who has been our state representative for well over 10 years would be more familiar with the problem.

This was his first visit to our county in more than two years; do you think it may be due more to his running for re-election than any issues in our lake? We may also consider that he should probably be in Sacramento working on the state budget required in order to keep the state out of bankruptcy rather than tooling around on Clear Lake.

If you would like a real state representative, someone who will take issues we face in Lake County seriously, all the time; one who will take their responsibility to be fiscally responsible with our tax dollars and produce a budget that allows the state to pay its bills, then vote for Karen Brooks for state assembly (www.karenbrooks2010.com). She will work for all of us ? all the time, not just show up in an election year.

Editor”s note: For the sake of accuracy, we are aware of several visits that Assemblyman Chesbro made to Lake County during the past two years.
