LAKEPORT — The nomination period for two seats on the Lakeport City Council has been extended to 5 p.m. on Wednesday. Councilmember Ron Bertsch chose not to run for another term. At this time, there are currently six candidates who have qualified for the November ballot. Those candidates include Tom Engstrom, James Irwin, Ted Mandrones, Stacey Mattina, Marc Spillman and George Spurr.
Each candidate must be nominated by not less than 20, nor more than 30, registered voters. It is recommended to pick up nomination papers in advance of the deadline to allow time to gather signatures and fill out the required paperwork.
