PACK offers Zumba fitness classes
MIDDLETOWN — The Parents and Community for Kids (PACK) Community Arts Academy offers Zumba fitness classes taught by Jamie Zimmerman Bracisco, a certified Zumba instructor, at 21055 Bush St. in Middletown.
According to Zimmerman Bracisco, the Zumba program fuses Latin rhythms and easy-to-follow moves.
The PACK studio offers a professionally-made sprung floor designed to lessen the impact of movement and reduces stress to the body.
The August schedule features Zumba courses from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays and 9 to 10 a.m. Wednesdays.
The schedule for September to December is as follows:
* 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Mondays and Thursdays — Zumba;
* 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays — Zumba Gold (low-impact);
* 3 to 3:30 p.m. Thursdays — Zumbatomic “Little Stars” (4 to 6 years old); and
* 3:30 to 4 p.m. Thursdays — Zumbatomic “Big Stars” (7 to 12 years old).

Artists” reception at Lower Lake museum
LOWER LAKE — The public is invited to a free artists” reception from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday in Weaver Auditorium at the Lower Lake Historic Schoolhouse Museum at 16435 Main St. in Lower Lake. Attendees can meet the artists and view demonstrations of weaving and spinning. Light refreshments will be served.

Fiddlers perform at Lakeport Library
LAKEPORT — Members of the Konocti Fiddle Club will entertain at Lakeport Library”s preschool story time, 10:15 to 11 a.m. Aug. 20. The library and the musicians invite the public to this family-friendly event at 1425 N. High St.
Violin/fiddle teacher Elise “Andi” Skelton founded the club with her students to give them experience performing before audiences. Skelton is the student programs committee chairman for the Clear Lake Performing Arts. The musicians range in age from kindergarten to grandparent.

Living Waters performing in free concert
LAKEPORT — A Lake County Christian band Living Waters, led by Mark Loebs, will perform at 4 p.m. Aug. 15 at Library Park in Lakeport. The concert is free and is sponsored by Lake Ministerial Association with local congregations participating. Listeners are encouraged to bring a lawn chair. Nutcracker auditions will be held on Aug. 21
MIDDLETOWN — The Middletown Dance Alliance will be holding auditions for its fourth annual Nutcracker, noon to 4 p.m. Aug. 21 at the studio, 21055 Bush St. in Middletown. Auditions are open to all of Lake County dance school students and performers ages 6 to adult. The director will speak to each performer and request them to act or dance out (in groups) small parts for the audition.
The production will be held in December.
This production is a full-length Nutcracker, with stage settings, lights, props and dramatic costumes. It”s a fun, but professional, family-oriented atmosphere and a way to set family traditions. ?Art in the Barn” at Old Time Bluegrass Festival
LOWER LAKE — Main Street Gallery Committee Chair, Richard Seisser, has announced that the gallery and the Anderson Marsh Bluegrass Festival Committee have joined forces to organize and present “Art in the Barn” at this year”s festival, on Sept. 11 at Anderson Marsh in Lower Lake.
“Art in the Barn” is open to all Lake County artists in all media and is a juried show. It is anticipated that there will be hanging space for 15 artists and applications are available at the Main Street Gallery and online at bluegrass@andersonmarsh.org.
Completed applications should be returned to Richard Seisser, Main Street Gallery, 325 N. Main St., Lakeport, CA 95451, by Aug. 15. No entry fee is required for this opportunity. Artists” work can be for display only, or for sale. If an artist”s work is selected for show and is for sale, there is a 10-percent sales commission as a fundraiser for the festival.
Set up time is noon to 6 p.m. Sept. 10 and should be completed by 9 a.m. Sept. 11. Take down is scheduled at festival close, 7 p.m., and art work should not be removed until after the 7 p.m. closing time. Overnight security will be provided for Sept. 10.
Juried art show to hang at Main Street Gallery
LAKEPORT — “Lake County Living,” a juried art show, will hang during the month of September in the Linda Carpenter Gallery in the Lake County Arts Council”s Main Street Gallery. The jury process is open to all two-dimensional media with a maximum image size of 16 by 20 inches or 320 square inches. Christian benefit concerts continue
LAKEPORT — Lake County”s own Compassion 2 Help will present another in its series of Christian music concerts, 7 p.m. Aug. 21. JJ Heller and Matt Brouwer will be performing at the Soper-Reese Community Theatre in Lakeport.
Proceeds will go to Compassion 2 Help, a grassroots charitable organization established to support hard-working residents of Lake County who are struggling through lack of work.
Tickets, $20 for adults and $15 for 18 and younger, are on sale at Catfish Books in Lakeport, Expressions of Faith in Upper Lake and the theater box office, open from noon to 5 p.m. Thursdays. Tickets are also available by phone at 263-0577 and online at SoperReeseTheatre.com.
Pageant auditions take place Aug. 22
MIDDLETOWN — Auditions for the annual Renaissance Christmas Pageant and Feast will be held at 2 p.m. Aug 22 at the Middletown Community United Methodist Church on Armstrong and Jackson streets in Middletown. The 17th annual pageant will be performed during the weekends of Dec. 3 and 10. Featured in the pageant will be singers, dancers, actors and specialty acts.
