LAKEPORT — A teenage boy reported to Lakeport police he was robbed at gunpoint about 9:50 p.m. Monday at Armstrong and South Forbes streets.

The teenager told police the suspect demanded and took private property from him at gunpoint, Lt. Brad Rasmussen of Lakeport police said.

“Right now there”s no information to believe anybody else is going to be a target,” Rasmussen said. “But we always suggest citizens be aware of their surroundings and report any suspicious activity.”

Police have limited information on the description of the suspect or any vehicle involved and are still investigating the incident, Rasmussen said.

Law enforcement recommends property owners have motion sensor lighting to deter problems, Rasmussen said.

“While walking by yourself at night, maintain awareness of your surroundings, and don”t be so distracted so that you wouldn”t be aware of somebody walking up behind you or driving up in a vehicle,” Rasmussen said. “Also, try to walk in main areas where there”s traffic.”

Police ask that anyone with information regarding this incident contact the department at 263-5491.
