Lucerne Alpine Senior Center Board of Directors and I want to thank Record-Bee for supporting us and the other Lake County senior centers with the Saturday edition Golden Moments senior news page.

In particular, we commend Mandy Feder and Cynthia Parkhill, whose patience in training us in journalistic writing and editing is greatly appreciated.

Wider county exposure has made a difference.

With weekly features and menus, seniors and non-seniors alike are becoming more familiar with services. In a county having a high percentage of retired people, senior centers are a vital community resource.

Such publicity helps new area residents become quickly aware of Lake County services.

Since the Record-Bee”s focus on senior news began several months ago, Lucerne Senior Center”s participation in its weekday lunch program has steadily increased.

Much of the center”s state and federal funding is based on the number of meals served, so that increased participation also means increased funding and improved operations. It”s a win-win situation.

It is not easy for Record-Bee staff to standardize submittals from five different senior centers and create such a professional presentation. The paper”s commitment to serving our community is truly wonderful and deserves notice.
