LAKE COUNTY — Firefighters spent nearly 24 hours working to contain a vegetation fire Tuesday in the Indian Valley area. The fire consumed approximately 363 acres by time it was considered contained on Wednesday.

According to a CALFIRE spokesperson, heat related injuries were sustained by three firefighters battling the blaze.

The fire broke out around 3:25 p.m. Tuesday. At noon on Wednesday it was considered 60 percent contained. According to CALFIRE, it was considered 100 percent contained as of 2:30; however it was not considered controlled.

Units remained on scene throughout Wednesday monitoring for hot spots to prevent re-ignition. CALFIRE responded with five engines, four dozers, several aircraft and 12 hand crews. Northshore Fire Protection District responded with two water tenders an engine and a battalion chief. Cause of the fire remains under investigation.
