LAKEPORT — The Mendo Mill Home Center and Lumber Company Lakeport Store will open for business in late September, according to company spokesman Harold Taylor. The store, located at 2465 S. Main St. Lakeport, is the former location of Piedmont Lumber which was bought out by Mendo Mill. The store will be an affiliate of Ace Hardware
Taylor said the 38,000 square foot store is currently being completely stocked with the latest hardware, lumber and other building supplies.
“We will have everything that was stocked by Piedmont and more with the exception of the rock yard which Piedmont will retain,” Taylor said. According to Taylor, most of the 45 former Piedmont employees will be retained by Mendo Mill and that includes the store manager Rick White. Taylor said that most of the contractors and others who had an account with Piedmont will have their account rolled over to Mendo Mill.
Mendo Mill was founded in 1944 and in addition to the Lakeport store has stores in Ukiah, Willits, Fort Bragg and Clearlake.
