FORT BRAGG — After battling to a 1-1 draw with St. Bernard of Eureka on Friday, the Clear Lake High School varsity girls” soccer squad dropped two games on Saturday in the Abalone Cup at Fort Bragg.

Clear Lake fell 2-1 to McKinleyville early Saturday before losing 3-0 to Fortuna later in the day.

“We made some good progress,” Clear Lake coach Paul Larrea said of the two-day, three-game tournament. “We”re figuring things out. We”re going to be just fine.”

Talia Paskaly scored in the second half against St. Bernard to knot the score at 1. The Crusaders capitalized on a Clear Lake own-goal in the first half to take a 1-0 lead (a St. Bernard shot ricocheted off a Clear Lake player and went into the net).

In the loss to McKinleyville on Satur-day, Briana Dutcher scored on a corner kick in to tie the game at 1.

Among Clear Lake”s standouts during the tournament were Paskaly, Dutcher, Chelo Lundquist-Krag and Darian Ottolini, according to Larrea.
