LAKEPORT — A little home cooking, not to mention two goals each from Telia Paskaly and Savannah DeKeyer, propelled the Clear Lake Cardinals to their first win of the season, an 8-0 non-league decision over the Kelseyville Knights in varsity girls” soccer action Tuesday in Lakeport.
Clear Lake (1-4-1) peppered the Kelseyville keeper with 36 shots en route to the victory. The Cardinals scored their first goal just three minutes into the game when Paskaly headed in a goal following an assist from Amely Ballesteros, who had three assists overall.
Goals by DeKeyser and Nadine Bradley, the first of her varsity career, pushed Clear Lake”s lead to 3-0 by halftime.
Insurance goals by Paskaly, DeKeyser, Chelo Lundquist-Krag, Cierra Lopez and Jessica Salmeron in the second half rounded out the scoring.
“We played very well today,” Clear Lake coach Paul Larrea said.
Sparking the offense was the play of midfielder Lundquist-Krag, according to Larrea.
“When we”re good in the middle, we”re good on the outside because we have a lot of speed on the team,” Larrea said. “Krag was outstanding in the middle.”
Clear Lake”s defense was equally up to the task, allowing just two shots on goal.
It was Kelseyville”s season opener.
