LUCERNE — Two men were arrested Wednesday in connection to a stolen vehicle. Stephen Henry Yturriaga, 24, of Clearlake Park and Trent Austin Hillman, 39, of Upper Lake were taken into custody at a residence in Lucerne.
According to California Highway Patrol, Officer Curtis responded to a call of a vehicle blocking Highway 20 at Paradise Cove at approximately 7:46 a.m. When he arrived, he saw the vehicle, which was unoccupied, on the right shoulder of the highway. He then determined that the vehicle was reported stolen the day prior.
Officer Powell observed two male pedestrian on Highway 20 west of the location as he was responding to the scene, CHP Officer S. Tanguay said.
“Through investigation and follow-up, the officers responded to an address in Lucerne and found the two pedestrians at the residence,” Tanguay said. “They were in possession of stolen property from the stolen vehicle and approximately 100 to 200 keys including U.S. Postal keys being used as burglar tools.”
Yturriaga allegedly resisted officers” orders prior to being taken into custody. Officer Tanguay said Yturriaga was determined to have stolen the vehicle. Yturriaga was also on parole, he said.
Yturriaga was booked into Lake County Jail on several charges including taking a vehicle without the owner”s consent, use of a controlled substance, resisting a peace officer, possession of a stolen vehicle and violation of parole.
Hillman was booked for possession of stolen property as an accomplice to the stolen vehicle, Tanguay said.
