LAKEPORT — A former director of the Lucerne Alpine Senior Center accused of embezzlement is set for his preliminary hearing.
Rowland Mosser will return to court 8:15 a.m. Sept. 24 for trial assignment for the hearing and 9 a.m. Sept. 28 for his preliminary hearing.
Mosser pleaded not guilty Jan. 29 to two counts of embezzlement and two counts of grand theft exceeding $400.
Part-time deputy district attorney Gary Luck had originally filed charges in April 2008 but dismissed them in February 2009 because he decided he needed more accounting expert testimony, District Attorney Jon Hopkins said. Luck filed the charges again in September 2009.
An officer from the Lake County Sheriff”s Office arrested Mosser Sept. 24, 2009 for the second round of charges.
Mosser said he was released on bail the same day.
“I never served a night in jail,” Mosser said. “I got out the same day, the same hour.”
