SONOMA — Clear Lake grabbed a 1-0 lead 15 minutes into the game but Hannah Boys Center came back to beat the Cardinals 5-1 in a non-league varsity boys” soccer game Friday in Sonoma.

Adrian Rodriguez gave the Cardinals (0-1-1) the early lead by converting a penalty kick.

Hannah Boys Center gradually wore down the Cardinals with its physical playing style, according to Clear Lake coach Luis Martinez, who doesn”t have many reserves to call on.

“Every two minutes or so another player was on the ground,” Martinez said.

“We tried different things, but nothing worked,” Martinez said.

The Cardinals trailed 3-1 after one half.

Clear Lake hosts Willits on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.
