UPPER LAKE — The Third Annual Cougar Classic Cross Country Invitational is scheduled for Saturday beginning at 9 a.m. at Upper Lake High School.
Schools from Lake, Mendocino and Sonoma counties will test their early season legs on the 2.05-mile short course.
Schools wishing to attend that have not yet signed up can do so. Teams that have already signed up are Cardinal Newman, Ursuline, Ukiah, Fort Bragg, Middletown, Clear Lake and the host Cougars.
The course is flat and fast on dirt, grass and pavement. It is an excellent course to watch cross country from as you can see the runners at almost any point along the course. Admission for spectators is free and the Upper Lake Boosters will have a concession stand open.
Upper Lake will also host the annual Lake County Meet, featuring all of the county”s teams, on Sept. 15 beginning at 3:30 p.m.
