SPRING VALLEY — No injuries were sustained when a roof collapsed as firefighters battled a structure fire in Spring Valley Monday. The home was completely lost in the blaze.

Units were dispatched at approximately 1:42 p.m. Monday to the 3700 block of Wolf Creek Road in Spring Valley. According to Northshore Fire Protection District Battalion Chief Pat Brown the first unit, which responded out of the Spring Valley Station, arrived to find that the fire had already spread to the attic area. He said upon arrival of an engine and a water tender from the Clearlake Oaks Station, an interior attack was executed. He said during the interior attack the roof caved. No injuries were sustained, Brown said.

Brown said the suppression effort included use of an 18-foot hose, which he said presented difficulties in battling the blaze. He said that while hand crews were able to remove some of the belongings from the home, which was unoccupied at the fire, the structure was completely lost.

The fire was battled under the unified command of NFPD and CALFIRE. CALFIRE responded engines, a helicopter and a hand crew. The last unit was released from the scene at 6:30 p.m.

Additionally, response by the Lake County Sheriff Department (LCSD) was requested for an allegedly illegal marijuana garden at the residence. The LCSD and the Lake County Arson Task Force continue to investigate the fire.
