DURHAM?Clear Lake Cardinals suffered a 48-6 loss at the hands of highly-recruited college prospect Nelson Fishback, quarterback for Durham. Clear Lake coach Shad Schweitzer call Fishback “the real deal.”
The Cardinals had 120 yards of total offense. Kyle Swartz scored Clear Lake”s lone touchdown in the fourth quarter on a two-yard dive. Schweitzer commended rotating quarterbacks and Schad Edwards and Eddie Lyons. Lyons also had two sacks on defense and seven tackles. Tyler Beets also had six tackles for the Cardinals.
Clear Lake had many two-way starters, some of whom got “banged up” during the game.
Consequently, the defense occasionally only had 10 players on the field.
Injured running back Jaime Lopez played tentatively, but should be healthy for next Friday”s game when the Cardinals travel to Fort Bragg and take on the Timberwolves.
