HAMILTON CITY ? The Kelseyville Knights had a great first half and a bad second half, according to new head coach Rob Ishihara on Friday night in Hamilton City. A 20-7 lead could have been 40 -7 for the Knights were it not for an interception and two fumbles inside the red zone. A Brave defender ran back one of those fumbles for a 95-yard touchdown. Hamilton City scored 29 unanswered points in the second half to defeat the Knights 36-20. Kelseyville had a balanced offensive attack with Nick Rodrigues rushing for 83 yards on 14 carries and two touchdowns. Geno Poloni added 57 yards with 10 attempts. Quarterback Chris Augon completed eight passes on 17 attempts for 177 yards with one interception. Augon` connected with Mike Davis for a touchdown.

Davis, a senior safety who missed most of last season with an injury, led the Knight defense with 10 tackles and one interception. Junior Jake Youngs had seven tackles and one sack. Blake Sedrick had six tackles and Mike Townley picked off a pass. James Green also blocked a punt for Kelseyville.

Coach Ishihara said the Knights “came out flat” in the second half and allowed the Braves to capitalize on several big plays. It was an “educational experience” for the Knights as they exposed the “good and the bad” of their capabilities. Cloverdale visits next week.
