Before God spoke to him, Pastor Jones was going to burn several copies of the Koran. When asked if he had ever read the Koran, he replied that the word Jesus was never mentioned in the book.
Unfortunately, he was wrong.
“Jesus” is mentioned about five times and very reverentially, I might add. For example, “Behold, the angels said,/” ?O Mary, God announces good news to you/by Word from God/ named the Messiah, Jesus son of Mary,/ honored in this world/ and the hereafter,/and among the Intimates,”” according to The Family of Imraan, 45.
However, in his own inarticulate way, Jones was trying to state a fact: the values of the Muslim world and the Christian world are at odds, actually, diametrically opposite. Muslims are against the equality of women.
They are against religious tolerance. How many Christian churches are there in Iran?
They are against any kind of historical investigation of their religion. They are also against capitalism since charging interest is prohibited although they have many ways of getting around this ban.
I guess Muslims hope God doesn”t know anything about bookkeeping.
In short, if the average American had to live the rest of his life in Saudi Arabia, he would slit his wrists. Even the zillon princes of the royal family leave periodically to enjoy the sins of the West.
The press depicts Jones as some kind of religious kook. Actually, his deeper message deserves reflection and serious consideration.
