HAMILTON CITY — On Friday night Kelseyville High School football team traveled to Hamilton City.

When the Kelseyville team returned to the bus, five student backpacks, an iPod and a purse belonging to the driver of the bus were reportedly stolen from the unlocked bus.

The thefts were reported by Kelseyville coach Rob Ishihara at 10:20 p.m. following the game.

Ishihara said Hamilton High School Principal Chris Oseguera immediately offered to pay for the items.

“It was nice they offered to take care of the situation and felt bad about what happened,” Ishihara said.

Oseguera said it was an unfortunate situation. He said they used to have a resource officer at the games, but since recent budget cuts, there is no longer anyone in that position.

“We apologize to the Kelseyville students. This is not representative of our community. We just want to find out who did this,” Oseguera said.

Glenn County Sheriff”s administrative officer, Mary Beth Stanberry said, “There”s is not yet an estimated amount of the loss, pending an inventory from the victims. There are no suspects at this time.”

The Glenn County Sheriff”s Office is conducting an investigation, which includes reviewing video surveillance.

Oseguera said the school participates in an anonymous tip line. Anyone will information regarding the theft is urged to call the Glenn County Sheriff”s Office at 530-934-6431 or the tip line at 1-800-78-CRIME.
