I can”t understand Mr. Duncan”s stance on Proposition 8 because he wanders around various unclear remarks about food additives, Sesame Street and statistics, genes and history that seem unfocused at best. If his point is that black people, which make up about 3 percent of Americans, are entitled to their civil rights under the Constitution then why has their struggle throughout American history been such a big deal and not the struggles of gay people or any other minority?

And if Americans don”t support gay marriage or any equal rights, then why have small minority groups gained their civil rights? And does he really believe his religion should be the law of the land? Does he think the Taliban is legitimate? I don”t know why any American feels a need to treat any group differently because of their genes, their lifestyles or their age. If indeed the bible is our only guide then why not focus on the Golden Rule instead of ancient prejudice?
