CLEARLAKE — As far as the residents are concerned, no one can throw a party like the staff at Orchard Park Assisted Living and Memory Care Community. The latest party, “Harvest Wine and Cheese” open house, held on Tuesday, welcomed more than 100 guests.
The event was held in celebration of National Assisted Living Week, “Living Life ? Living Emeritus” Brain Healthy Lifestyle.” The soiree featured live music and dancing, artisan breads, cheese and wine poured by area wineries. Miss Lake County”s Outstanding Teen Faith Hornby, 13, also made an appearance and joined in the celebration.
“It was such a beautiful party and I love a good party,” Orchard Park resident Yaeko Gilman, 91 said. “I loved the band and the music ? and the wine.”
Gilman said she only had a “little bit” of wine; although her tale may have been slightly fabricated as she giggled suspiciously, demonstrating with a pinching motion the amount she had allegedly consumed.
“This was one of our most successful events. We had more than 100 visitors including family members, local resource providers and caregivers as well as community members who just wanted to get a look at our beautiful home,” Kristy Weiss, Orchard Park community relations director said. “Tuesday”s attendance really illustrated the importance of assisted living services and how they enhance the quality of living of our residents and provide for the peace-of-mind of the family members. At Orchard Park, our family is committed to yours.”
The National Center for Assisted Living defines assisted living as part of a continuum of long-term care services that provide a combination of housing, personal care services and health care designed to respond to individuals who need help with standard activities of daily living (ADLs). Assisted living services are delivered in a way that promotes maximum independence.
Resident Perley Bouscaren, 85, said Orchard Park staff is keeping her young. “I”m not getting older. They are keeping me young.
