CLEARLAKE — Candidates vying for two open seats on the Clearlake City Council engaged in a forum Wednesday at the United Methodist Church in Clearlake. The forum welcomed questions from community group leaders.
Candidates in attendance included Frank Taylor, Bill Perkins, Joey Luiz, Estella Creel, Jeri Spittler, Jim Scholz and Ray Brady. Candidate Barbara Gier was not present.
Each candidate was given an opportunity to introduce themselves prior to begin the program, by commentator, radio talk show host, Glen Goodman.
Questions were offered by several community leaders representing groups such as the Sierra Club, NAACP and the Highlands Senior Center and others.
Some questions covered topics such as lake health and rehabilitation, climate change, sustainability and senior issues.
The program was recorded for broadcast on TV8. It is expected to be ready for air within the next two weeks. Additionally, the program is to be made available through an internet video platform at TV 8.1 as well as on the PEG Central Web site at www.laketv8.pegcentral.com. The forum is expected to run through the November election.
