Win or lose, being a liberal American is something that brings me a good feeling. At least I am not part of the party with the shortest list in America.

Conservatives are 100 percent right in saying that the liberals are softer then conservatives in every way.

We are slow to go to wars, to hate and to be bigoted about race or cultures that we are not part of.

We care a great deal about our fellow Americans, and mankind.

We believe equal rights should be extended to all, instead of a chosen few. As taxpayers, we have little problem spending our dollars on universal health care for all our citizens, over having a military budget that is used in the name of being the police of the world, but, mostly has been used by corporate America to be the bully on the block for its own interests and profits.

We believe that our Founding Fathers would have done a better job in putting down our first laws if they would have invited our founding mothers to take part in putting them together, so have no problem in thinking they need to be upgraded from time to time.

We believe we should treat our planet and natural resources with respect and not waste or harm them in any way, just for profit. We believe that every hourly employee should have a union for a voice in their working conditions. We believe that our elderly should have government retirement and health programs, funded by our taxpayer dollars and corporate America, that allow them to end life in dignity.

We believe in free speech and press. We believe in controls on harmful use of drugs, guns, personal actions, etc. We believe in totally free education from grades one through 12, so we have a strong and intelligent citizenship. We believe that our government has no right in making laws on how either gender uses their body.

We believe as a nation to respect the laws and traditions of all other nations, just as we believe they should do the same with us.

We believe that the American Dream is really our ongoing hope for a better world for all mankind and not just, our self-interest, and to make our Nations standards be like a bright star in the night sky for others to see and work toward becoming in their nations.

Lastly, separation of church and state. And we believe in freedom to practice the religion of choice by all of our citizens, if they so wish, and hold all to be equal, none above the other.

So, in my mind, its good to be a liberal American, like our present day president is.
