LAKEPORT — Tickets are now on sale for the Lake County Theatre Company production of “Rocky Horror Show,” taking place at 7 p.m. Oct. 22, 23, 29 and 30 and Nov. 5 and 6; with three midnight performances taking place Oct. 23 and 30 and Nov. 6.
Performances take place in the Little Theatre at the Lake County Fairgrounds on Martin Street in Lakeport.
According to publicist Suna Flores, what makes LCTC a “real community theater company” is due, at least in part, to the reality that LCTC puts on shows at a price that nearly everyone can afford. “In this economy, that is a very good thing,” Flores said.
Flores said, “The next question is, ?How can they afford to do that?” Much of the time it is due to people scrimping and making do, borrowing, cutting corners and sweet-talking folks into helping out. Also, the cast and crew is all volunteer. Amazing, yes?”
According to Flores, for its production of “Rocky Horror Show,” LCTC “really went the extra mile” to keep the production affordable. This summer, the cast and crew and LCTC members volunteered at the Lake County Fair in order to make enough money for LCTC to cut down on the expense of the show, thus reducing the price of tickets.
Flores said, “A show like ?Rocky” costs many thousands of dollars for the rights to perform it, the cost of the theater venue, costumes, props and set. The only way that this cost is paid for is through ticket prices, except for this time. Their volunteerism will offset the costs and reduce the price of a ticket.”
Flores said that “Rocky Horror Show” is an R-rated show. People younger than 18 will not be admitted without a parent or guardian.
Flores described “Rocky Horror Show” as “a raucus, bawdy, rowdy show, and your Aunt Tillie will definitely be scandalized if she attends. So come by yourselves and dress up to boot. It”s going to be great.”
