LAKE COUNTY — A woman who is described as a “beautiful, kind and reserved person,” was identified by the Lake County Sheriff-Coroner”s Office as the victim who died from injuries sustained in a crash Friday on Highway 20 at Scotts Valley Road.
Kimberlee Annette Westbay, 52, of Lakeport died at the scene of the crash, the Lake County Sheriff”s Office and California Highway Patrol (CHP) stated.
An autopsy was performed on Monday morning. The cause of the collision is pending further investigation by CHP.
At approximately 10:40 a.m. on Friday, a black Chevy Tahoe driving west on Highway 20, for unknown reasons traveled into the oncoming lane after going around a curve and crashed into a black 1990 Nissan pickup, officer Dallas Richey of CHP said.
The Nissan came to rest on the shoulder of Highway 20. The Tahoe continued westbound out-of-control and collided into the left rear of a 2004 red Ford F-150 that was traveling eastbound.
The driver of the F-150, Dale Box, 48, of Upper Lake, was uninjured.
Anton Kloiber, 34, of Piercy was the driver of the Tahoe. He was arrested and booked into the Lake County Jail on suspicion of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs causing bodily injury.
Westbay”s mother, Shirley Coulson, said her daughter initially moved to Lake County to work for animal control.
She was employed as a courier at the time of her death.
“She loved animals. She was a quiet, reserved person who never had a bad thing to say about anybody,” Coulson said. “She just accepted people for who they were.”
Services for Westbay will be held in Petaluma. Details about her service have not yet been determined. Anyone wishing to make a donation in Westbay”s name, may do so by donating to any organization that helps animals. “That would make her happy,” Coulson said. “She was a beautiful person and my youngest child.”
