LAKEPORT — The Lake County Arts Council presents the work of five new artists during its First Friday Fling reception, 5:30 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Main Street Gallery, 325 N. Main St. in Lakeport.
Artists featured during the October show are Sunny Franson, Ray Farrow, Lynn Wagner, Anja Koot, George Waterstrat, Paula Strother, Dennis Robison, Judy Labelle, John Winslow and Susan Layman. Showing for the first time in the gallery is Nancy Webb.
The Linda Carpenter Gallery is showing the creative work of second- and third-grade students from Cobb Elementary School. Their work is executed in colored pencil, ink and stencil. A second segment of the work features self portraits, which are an expression of the individual done in watercolor. Linda Prather”s kindergarten through first-grade class has been studying the trees, horizons and fall colors around Cobb and creating work in watercolor, crayon resist and tissue paper collage.
The evening is also the kick off for the “So You Think You Can Paint,” a creative endeavor that invites anyone who would like to add their touch to one of two canvases. One is a study in abstract art and the other a quilt pattern. Viewers are invited to try one or both and add their whimsy and talent to the canvas.
Cleavage Creek Wines will be featured in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. A portion of every sale goes to find a cause for this disease. Tulip Hill will be pouring for this member of its family of wines.
Pianist David Neft will perform during First Friday Fling.
