LAKEPORT — A Kelseyville man surrendered to authorities Wednesday evening in connection with a hit-and-run collision Sept. 24 that resulted in death of Lake County restaurant owner Zino Mezoui.

According to California Highway Patrol Public Information Officer Steve Tanguay, James Nightingale, 30, had been identified as a “person of interest” in the hit-and-run investigation.

Tanguay said an attorney for Nightingale contacted the CHP office Wednesday afternoon to negotiate the man”s surrender.

“Officers responded to the agreed location where Nightingale turned himself in without resistance,” Tanguay said.

Mezoui died Sept. 24 after injuries he sustained when a blue Suburban struck his green Honda Gold Wing motorcycle on Highway 29 near Seigler Canyon Road.

The Suburban fled the scene immediately after the collision, according to witnesses.

Mezoui lived in Kelseyville and owned Zino”s Ristorante and Inn on Soda Bay.
