I am writing in response to all the tragic deaths in Lake County. My heart is also aching for the families who have lost loved ones. I desperately would like to point out and hope to remind people to slow down out there. I am out on Highway 29 a few days a week, between 8 and 8:30 in the mornings and it is pure insanity out there. I like to drive a safe speed of 55 mph and sometimes in the straight areas, maybe up to 60, depending on road conditions. People are tailgating me, trying to get around me all the time, and driving recklessly because of it. I”ve also noticed a few times, as I am catching up to the last driver who passed me like I was standing still, at the stoplight, he”s usually texting someone, which is very clear to see, as he or she has the cell phone up so they can clearly text.
That”s against the law, people. Do you not realize that? I never see a lot of CHP out there, but they can”t be everywhere at the same time. If you have a clock to punch, then why can”t you leave 20 minutes earlier? That”s what I do. You”re not only risking everyone”s lives, but you are also risking your own life. Don”t you people see this? I believe it was Mandy Feder who wrote a column about this subject, about being to work on time, and leaving a little earlier to get there safe.
Try leaving a little earlier, drive the law-enforced speed limit, and you”ll find, you”ll will get there, not only on time, but with no stress. Lay your cell phone down. Whatever you need to deal with, do it on your own time, not while you are driving. Most deaths occur, because of people using their cell phones, texting while driving. Please people, I would love to see my grandchildren grow up. Keep your eyes on the road and be aware of all surroundings. You will save yourself and your fellow drivers.
