CLEARLAKE — Clearlake Police are actively seeking suspects involved in a robbery Monday morning in Clearlake. Two white men associated with a maroon Pontiac Sunfire coupe are being sought.

According to Clearlake Police, the manager of a local gas station was preparing to enter Wells Fargo Bank on Olympic Drive with the station”s morning deposit. The man was approached from behind by a man, whom witnesses said had been walking up and down Olympic Drive for about 10 minutes prior to the incident.

The suspect allegedly demanded the gas station manager”s deposit bag and threatened to kill him if he did not surrender it. Officer Carl Miller said that the manager refused and the suspect punched him in the face, at which time the manager dropped the bag.

According to police, the suspect picked up the deposit bag and ran north toward the maroon Sunfire. The suspect got into the passenger side of the vehicle and the second suspect drove the vehicle through the loading area behind Safeway. Additionally, Miller said that several witnesses reported seeing the vehicle parked the wrong direction on the far east side of the Safeway parking lot prior to the incident.

The first suspect is described as an unshaven, white man, approximately six-feet tall, 160 to 180 pounds wearing a black, long-sleeved, pullover hoodie with dark jeans. The driver of the vehicle is described as a white male adult.

The vehicle is described as a maroon Pontiac Sunfire coupe possibly eight to 10 years old with a spoiler against the rear window. It has a black sticker with white writing on it on the rear window behind the driver”s seat. Miller said there is also either a circular sticker or a dent in the rear bumper on the driver”s side. Additionally, he said the vehicle has after-market, chrome-type rims.

Anyone with information regarding the suspects or the vehicle is urged to contact the Clearlake Police Department at 994-8251.
