LAKEPORT — The Lakeport Police Department arrested a man on charges of driving under the influence and hit-and-run in connection with an incident Wednesday that resulted in private property damage off of Lakeshore Boulevard. The LPD received a report around 3 p.m. Wednesday that the driver of a black Dodge truck was driving erratically, nearly hit a pedestrian and crashed on private property.
Officers responded to the corner of Lakeshore Boulevard and Lange Street, finding visible evidence of a crash. No vehicle was present at the site but officers did find a license plate.
Officers found the black Dodge truck outside a mobile home park, then located and arrested the driver, William Matison. Matison allegedly drove off of the road, struck several signs, knocked down a fence and damaged some shrubs and private property a few yards from the lake and several blocks from Lakeport public schools.
