I”m 20 years old and I live a somewhat normal life.
I am writing you to address Prop. 8 for same-sex marriage. I feel it”s important to ban Prop. 8 in California so that gays and lesbians may have equal rights, just like everyone else. America has built itself on freedom and the freedom of choice. That”s what I don”t get; why is it such a hard decision?
Jumping into the case now is “just irresponsible,” Douglas Napier, a lawyer with the Alliance Defense Fund said last Friday.
What”s so irresponsible about freedom of choice? Article 1 of the Constitution gives us freedom of Speech, Religion, Press, Assembly, Choice, and Petition. Why argue that? I think it would be a lot easier for all of us to just ban Prop. 8. It”s not fair to have angry people all over the state of California. It”s all about selfless giving that we, Americans, have been raised on. I don”t think anyone understands, unless they”ve been in a part of a gay relationship, the importance of the whole issue of whether or not to ban Prop. 8.
Allowing same-sex couples to wed “is consistent with California”s long history of treating all people and their relationships with equal dignity and respect,” Schwarzenegger”s lawyers wrote in a written filing with Chief U.S. District Judge Vaughn Walker.
Arnold is so right. Dignity is a sign or token of respect and respect is a formal expression or gesture of greeting, esteem, or friendship. Does anyone know the meaning of friendship anymore? Friendship cares for one another, supports one another, and supports the straight and gay people.
Now, here”s my story.
Some of my best friends are gay and bisexual. I have a big heart that goes out to them. I”d love to see Prop. 8 be banned for their ultimate happiness. Please vote for being against Prop. 8 so that everyone can have equal rights. I send great thanks for taking the time to read my letter. Have a great day.
