CLEARLAKE — Clearlake Police conducted a buy-and-bust operation late Saturday night that resulted in the arrest of Dustin Lee Wilson, 34, of Clearlake. Wilson, who is the son of Clearlake council candidate Jeri Spittler, was arrested on several narcotics charges as well as for attempting to bribe an officer.

According to Clearlake Police Lt. Craig Clausen, Wilson arrived at a location in Clearlake where he allegedly attempted to sell undercover officer an ounce of cocaine. Clausen said after Wilson was arrested, additional cocaine was found on his person as was more than $2,100 in currency. “When that was found, he attempted to bribe the officer,” Clausen said.

Clausen said a bail enhancement of $250,000 was obtained and Wilson was booked into Lake County Jail for possession of narcotics controlled substance, possession/purchase for sale of narcotics, transporting/selling narcotics and for bribery of an officer.

According to Lake County Sheriff”s Office, Wilson was released on bail at 6:14 p.m. Sunday.

During a recent candidates” forum at Clearlake City Hall, Spittler said that she sees less methamphetamine addicts now and that Clearlake”s drug problem is not as severe as it was 25 years ago. She attributed that to police and code enforcement.

Spittler said she is adamantly opposed to drug use.
