This election cycle is now being influenced by big money sources, domestic or foreign, that can remain hidden from public review thanks to the five to four Supreme Court decision striking down previous campaign finance reform laws. While the democrats have attempted to pass legislation requiring transparency of money sources, the republicans have blocked those efforts.
If you are angry at democrats for government debt and subservience to the too big to fail, just remember the previous republican (GOP) majority drive for deregulation and privatization is what brought us the era of no accountability and the giant bubble burst of the housing market. On top of that, we have inherited overwhelming debt from republican initiated wars and tax cuts funded by borrowed money.
Study how the Federal Reserve increases the dollar supply when our government borrows money from it. The Federal Reserve process of adding more and more dollars to the money supply is where the hidden tax of inflation comes from. As more dollars get created from taxpayer debt, they compete to buy what our earned or saved dollars can buy. Knowledge of this process makes the republican mantra of no new taxes nonsense. Our government has been funding the war industry and bank bailouts with a gravy train of money created in this fashion, and it has become a self perpetuating addiction. The Bigs who benefit use cycles of newly created money to lobby for the same to continue. I wish for laws blocking those lobbying efforts in the name of democracy or sacrificing during a time of war.
While both political parties are leaning on efforts to print our way out of problems, opposition to election money transparency tells me that Republican Party has sold its soul to the highest bidders riding on that gravy train of money created out of government debt. We need to bring manufacturing jobs back to the U.S. without debt funded tax cuts. I will be voting for third party candidates except when that vote might enable a republican win.
