CLEARLAKE OAKS — A portion of assets ordered returned in relation to a 2009 raid of Alternative Solutions Collective in Clearlake Oaks was received by business owner Dave Moses this week. The check for $2,151, which is dated Aug. 2, was received following a court appearance on Monday.
Moses said that the money received this week replaces that seized from the till during the 2009 raid. He said that negotiations continue for return of additional assets seized during the operation.
Moses said on Jan. 29, 2009, under the direction of Sheriff Rodney Mitchell, the Lake County Sheriff”s Office raided Alternative Solutions Collective in Clearlake Oaks and the collective grow site in Middletown. He said one volunteer from the grow site and two volunteers from the collective were arrested, which he said resulted in bail costs and legal fees.
“Before the preliminary hearing the DA”s Office dismissed all charges against the collective and its members and the judge ordered return of all property and funds seized during what ultimately has been determined as an illegal raid,” Moses said. “Now we are negotiating compensation for all property lost to destruction as a result of the illegal raid.”
Moses said negotiations are court-ordered complete by Dec. 16.
