LAKEPORT — Despite losing the first two games, the Cloverdale Eagles battled all the way back to upend the Clear Lake Cardinals 22-25, 12-25, 25-21, 25-18, 15-11 in a North Central League I South varsity volleyball match on Thursday in Lakeport.
“The first five-gamer we haven”t won this season and we”ve had quite a few,” Clear Lake coach Marci Psalmonds said.
A win would have pulled Clear Lake (2-3) into a second-place tie with the Eagles (4-1), who beat the Cardinals in four games earlier this month in Cloverdale.
“We”re pretty evenly matched,” Psalmonds said.
Jessica Asbury led Clear Lake with 13 kills, five blocks and four aces. Rebecca Baker added nine kills.
Anchoring the Clear Lake defense were Morgan Psalmonds (11 digs) and Heather White (nine digs).
“Those two were phenomenal in the back row,” Psalmonds said.
