Audubon chapter screens ?Ghost Bird”
LAKEPORT — The Redbud Chapter of the Audubon Society is screening a showing of “Ghost Bird,” a nonfiction feature film about the search in Arkansas for an extinct giant woodpecker, 7 p.m. today at the Soper-Reese Community Theatre. Appearing in person to introduce the film is director/producer, Scott Crocker. Admission is free.

Friends of the Library to hold open house
LAKEPORT — Friends of the Lake County Library will conduct its annual open house and book sale, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Oct. 28 at the Lakeport Library, 1425 N. High St. in Lakeport.
The group is making a special offer: for $15, attendees can purchase a Friends of the Library book bag and fill it with books. The book sale will include one-of-a-kind books, book sets and books no longer in print. Complimentary refreshments will be served.
Featured author Steve Bartholomew, author of “Gold: A Tale of the Gold Rush” and “Journey to Rhyolite,” will read from one of his latest novels. Special guest OurKnee, the only canine member of the Friends of the Library, will attend and greet his book-loving friends.

CLPA to hold yard sale on Saturday

Hip hop event at Soper-Reese
LAKEPORT — The first all-hip hop show ever to be staged in the county takes place at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Soper Reese Community Theatre.
The Hip Hop Dance Fest features dancers ranging from 2-year-old tots to teenagers from the Lakeport Dance Studio, Konocti Dance Academy and the Tessiz Hip Hop Dance Crew.
General admission is $5; reserved seating is $8. Tickets are available online at www.SoperReeseTheatre.com or at the theater box office, open from noon to 5 p.m. Thursdays and for two hours before and up to showtime at 275 S. Main St. in Lakeport. LCAC to hold annual meeting
LAKEPORT — Members and prospective members are invited to attend the Lake County Arts Council”s annual meeting, 5:30 p.m. Nov. 10 at the Main Street Gallery, located at 325 N. Main St. in Lakeport.
