LAKE COUNTY — The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) Sonoma-Lake-Napa Unit on Monday lifted the burn ban on Lake County.
The summer”s dry fuel conditions have been eased because of the recent wet weather, according to CAL FIRE.
Property owners with valid CAL FIRE permits are allowed to conduct controlled burns on their property on days that are categorized as “Limited Burn Days” or “Permissive Burn Days,” according to the Lake County Air Quality Management District.
Burns are not allowed on any “No Burn Day,” unless the permit holder has been given an exemption.
Property owners may only burn dry vegetation grown on the property during an agricultural burn, according to the district, and residential burns require a lot at least one acre in size and at least 100 feet away from neighbors and 30 feet from any structure
A permit holder should burn only the amount of materials that could be consumed entirely during the day”s burning hours, according to the district.
The list of materials prohibited during burns includes vegetation producing toxic smoke, rubber, cloth, plastic, carpeting and treated wood.
