KELSEYVILLE — Sophomore Jennifer Green smacked 14 kills for Kelseyville, but the Knights, despite a game-one win, watched the Lower Lake Trojans rally for a 20-25, 27-25, 25-15, 25-17 victory in North Central League I North varsity volleyball action on Tuesday night in Kelseyville.
“It was much better than the last time we played them,” Kel-seyville coach Donelle McCallister said of a 25-21, 25-14, 25-13 loss to the Trojans back on Oct. 7 at Lower Lake.
The Knights (2-4) were able to capitalize on Lower Lake”s passing woes in game one and into game two, according to McCallister.
“They couldn”t pass at first, but they stepped it up and did some good things,” she said.
Jeannie Johnson, a freshman, had four aces to lead the Knights and Kyra Rudnick led the team with 12 digs.
“And she was our best passer,” McCallister said of Rudnick.
“We turned it on the last two games but we didn”t play well at all in the first two games,” Lower Lake coach Danessa Udy said, pointing to the team”s sloppy passing and service receive early on in the match.
Veronica Wilder had seven kills for the Trojans (4-1) and Kelsie Shoffeitt added six kills and two blocks.
“Amber is hitting pretty consistently now,” Udy said of her kills leader.
Lower Lake plays Willits (5-0) in a first-place showdown Thursday in Willits.
