CLEARLAKE — The Fair Political Practices Commission requires candidates for local office to report campaign contributions if contributions are expected to be $1,000 or more. Recipient Committee Campaign Statements were filed by two candidates for Clearlake City Council including Jeri Spittler and Joey Luiz.
According to City Clerk Melissa Swanson the remaining candidates filed statements stating that they did not expect to receive and/or spend more than $1,000 in their campaigns.
According to Spittler”s Oct. 25 filing, which includes campaign activity to Oct. 16, her campaign received a total of $4,537 in contributions and loans. Campaign expenditures total $4,426.36. Spittler”s campaign contributions include: Elizabeth Byrd, $150; Ron Green, $100; William E. Bennett III, $25; R.S. Devoto, $50; Berry Joe Corporation, $99; Wanda Harris, $50; Gary and Beryl Reeder, $100; Barbara Kremidas, $50; Robert R. Riggs, $250; Lake County Stonewall Democratic Club, $200; Rebecca Whitmire, In-Home Care Services, $500; Dustin Wilson $99; Lake County Democratic Central Committee, $400; Lake County Democratic Club, $300; and Jason Jones, $99. Additionally, Spittler reportedly made a loan to her campaign as did Tony Spittler.
Swanson said she expects Luiz”s campaign statement for the final pre-election filing period on Monday because Luiz”s campaign treasurer is out of town.
According to Luiz”s Oct. 13 filing, which covers activities to Sept. 30, his campaigned received a total of $2,174 in contributions. Expenditures totaled $863.73. Luiz”s campaign contributions include: Ruth Darling, $200; Dennis Darling, $200; Democratic Party of Lake County, $200; Lake County Democratic Club, $200; Lake County Stonewall Democratic Club, $200; Carolynn Jarrett $100; Mike Thompson for Congress, $500; Ron Green, $100; Donald K. Solomon, $100; and Robert. R. Riggs, $250.
Swanson said any last minute contributions or expenditures of $1,000 or more must be reported by the candidate within 24 hours of Tuesday”s election.
