UPDATED:

On Oct, 21, we received a call from Madrid, Spain from a young man saying he was our grandson and identified himself by our grandson”s name.

He said he had won a week”s vacation trip to Spain in a contest. He went on to say he was in a car with some men he met there and the police stopped them.

The police found drugs in the car and they were all arrested. I asked him if his wife was with him and he said no. I thought this was strange. When I started to ask questions, he wanted to talk to his grandmother. He told her not to say anything to his mother, to just keep it between us. He then said he had someone there that wanted to talk to us. His name was Ted Petterson. He told us our grandson had passed all the drug tests and was to see the judge later in the day. He said bail had been set at $2,825. The $25 was to pay for the phone call. He also gave us a phone number and said to just send the cash, no checks, by Western Union and he would get it.

He must have thought we were pretty gullible to buy that story. What was amazing is how much he knew about us and our family. People have to be pretty low to try to pull a scam like this.

We got in touch with our grandson”s mother and she called and found out he was at work in Santa Rosa. We thought we would put this in the paper to bring attention to this and to make others aware of the many lowlifes that prey on senior citizens.
