PETALUMA — Jennifer Green”s nine kills, four blocks and four aces propelled the Kelseyville High School varsity volleyball team to a 25-17, 25-12, 25-19 victory over the St. Vincent Mustangs in North Central League I interlock action on Tuesday night in Petaluma.
“We played a solid match and had some good swings,” Kelseyville coach Donelle McCallister said. “They played well.”
Alex Pruett also had four blocks for the Knights while Kyra Rudnick led the team with 11 digs. Mandy Spitzer and Jeannie Johnson added three kills apiece.
In other volleyball action Tuesday:
Lower Lake def. Middletown
At Middletown, Lower Lake swept Middletown 25-22, 25-23, 25-20 in NCL I North action.
Lower Lake improved to 5-2 in the North standings with the victory while Middletown fell to 0-7.
Veronica Wilder”s seven aces paced the Trojans. Kelsie Shoffeitt had six kills and three blocks, Amber Daniels had five kills and four aces, and April White banged out five kills to go along with four blocks.
Laura Hart, Rachel Sutton and Angela Gattoni had five kills apiece to power the Mustangs, Jamie Ridgway had five aces and Alexis Valdovinos added nine assists. Ridgway served eight straight points in game two to temporarily give the Mustangs the lead.
“We just couldn”t maintain our momentum,” Middletown coach Suzanne Riccio said.
St. Helena def. Clear Lake
At St. Helena, the St. Helena Saints clinched the outright NCL I South championship with a 25-16, 25-23, 25-14 victory over the Clear Lake Cardinals.
“They”re playing well as a team right now,” Clear Lake coach Marci Psalmonds said. “They”re learning to win together and lose together.”
St. Helena improved to 7-0 in league while Clear Lake closed out South play at 3-5.
Cloverdale def. Upper Lake
At Cloverdale, the Upper Lake Cougars played a strong first game but the Cloverdale Eagles still won in the minimum three games, 25-22, 25-16, 25-15, in NCL I South play.
Katherine Edmonds led the Cougars with six kills, two blocks and 10 digs. Emily Knispel added five kills and three aces.
“The girls did a good job, we just didn”t win,” Upper Lake coach Sandy Coatney said.
Upper Lake fell to 2-5 in the South standings while Cloverdale improved to 5-2.
