I opened my Record-Bee last week to read many stimulating entries from Letters to the Editor, particularly regarding the sheriff”s race. There were at least four letters speaking out against the Record-Bee”s endorsement of Mike Thompson, including the obvious ones from Totorica and Ridgel; no surprise there.
Lake County conservative republicans can”t stand a successful democrat incumbent, particularly when other Lake County republicans repeatedly crossover to vote for them.
I often see Thompson signs on private property owner”s lands next to Carly and Meg signs.
Why?
Because Thompson is a moderate congressman who more than adequately represents his moderate, reasonable and educated constituency in Northern California.
Conservatives, every year, try to paint him as to the left of the left (“Joined at the hip with Pelosi”; “Sacrificing our children”s future”; “Obamacare”; “Blah, Blah”). It never sticks and it ticks them off. They are certainly not going to stop and it is their right to voice their opinion.
If the Record-Bee chooses to endorse him, it”s the paper”s prerogative to do so. Newspapers endorse candidates.
Imagine that.
I”m sorry Joe Totorica”s paid ad for Loren Hanks was pre-empted by the Record-Bee or Randy Ridgel and others find him to be so horrible.
I find him to be a reasonable man who 95 percent of the time reflects what I want out of my representative. Until another candidate can show me how he or she can better the job that Mike Thompson is doing for his district, I”ll continue to do what most people in this district will do again, re-elect Mike Thompson. I don”t buy the often heard cry to ?throw out the bums” just because someone is an incumbent. I look at their body of work and how it affects the general well-being of their constituent”s lives and listen to what they plan to do in the future. I do the same for their opponent then I make up my mind. Voters have a responsibility to do so. Mike Thompson, once again, has my support.
