Jessica Asbury recorded 15 kills on only 28 arm swings Thursday night as the Clear Lake Cardinals beat the visiting Lower Lake Trojans 25-22, 25-18, 25-20 in a North Central League I interlock varsity volleyball match that was the season finale for both teams.
Vanessa Tullos added eight kills and Haley Garzoli had six for the Cardinals. Setter Morgan Psal-monds collected 22 assists.
“She distributed the ball very well tonight,” Clear Lake coach Marci Psalmonds said of her daughter, a sophomore.
With most of her team returning, Psalmonds said the Cardinals are looking for a big 2011 season.
Kelsie Shoffeitt had six kills and two blocks to lead Lower Lake, the NCL I North runner-up this season.
“We just had no fight left,” Lower Lake coach Danessa Udy said. “Definitely not what you want to see the final week of the season.”
